What a busy few weeks and my apologies for not posting a Blog over the last couple of months, however since the beginning of May we have been working flat out on the catering, so much so that we now realise that there may be a requirement of an extra member of staff. There has also been a bit of training to allow Tee to start to add to the Blogs, so this will help maintain the weekly writings, which is what we wanted to do when this was set up. What Tee wants to add is extras towards the food side especially new recipes especially now we are developing new menus for the huge amount of requests we are getting for private dining.
Having now realised that the business is increasing above what we originally set up the kitchen to do in 2003, its now time to speak to the builder and have the place extended. The last few events have been brilliant, but I’ve been clearly instructed that more space is required for the operation side of the business…. Keep an eye on this Blog for it’s development…. and more Blogs to follow!!

Finally having had the blog for a few weeks, I have had the time to sit and stare at the computer screen to work out how it actually works and what the heck RSS is. Its clearly something people are using and keep saying “Oh you need to get that”!!
I thought it was Repetitive Strain Injury, from using the keyboard too much but having looked further its a basic link to other sites that we can then highlight on the blog pages.
I’ve just added Tee’s favorite web site as it publishes exciting recipes on a daily basis and clearly food for thought when you are planning your meals !!!

I’m not sure if you all watch cooker programmes, but we keep catching site of Market Kitchen on Sky and the food they prepare especially for under a fiver, is superb and fun. Winter is still well and truly here, so been looking at some of the warm and filling dishes and just tried out a twist on the obligitory Chilli which is just a great dish. Check out their site
Market Kitchen
However lunch times are usually when a sandwich suffices but having just tried Tee’s Stilton & White Onion Soup to her own recipe – I can strongly recommend that soup should be in your lunch time menu, its just a great filled and lovely and warm at this time of the year. From this, I think we will start to post a few recipes in the future, so watch this space !

Having only just ventured to the office, the paths are now clearing and the snow is sliding from the roofs, indicating that a thaw might just be on the way.
Obviously business has been quiet on the accommodation front but also the catering with people not able to get to events, so Tee has been busy with revamping the menus for both sides of the business. Breakfast at Treaddow is just so important to us as its always the last chance to impress, so this is having a make over to the point that Tee has mentioned about having chickens… Not that we already have enough on our plates.
So come the warmer weather, it look like we will be building a chicken run in the orchard and free range eggs will be on the menu. Until then its clearly a case of keeping warm and doing more sales work…

…and a very Happy New Year to everyone from a cold and snowey St. Owen’s Cross!!
But we have the heating on 24/7 and the wood burners lit, so its a really cosy place to be at the monment.
Tee has been busy packing up all the decorations to indicate the start of a fresh new year, but still feels like holiday mood, especially with so many people still off work due to the weather.
Anyhow, we are fully open for business and hopefully looking forward to a busy 2010…

Apricot Catering is an Event & Outside Catering business located just outside Ross-on-Wye at St. Owen’s Cross.
Originally established in 1999 as part of our hotel operation in Shropshire, we moved into Hereforshire in 2003 to a purpose built kitchen, store and offices.
Primarily operating throughout Herefordshire and the surrounding counties, we also travel through out the UK if required.
We were the first Fairtrade Caterer in Herefordshire and have a very strong view on green issues to the point that we have just gained planning permission for a wind turbine that will provide all the power for the business from mid 2010.
